Daniel Esser
Lawyer and Tax Consultant
Location: Cologne
A few quick questions, Mr Esser?
How did you come to PMPG and what is your main focus today?
I have been with PMPG since I left the tax authorities in June 2017 – initially as a salaried solicitor and, since July 2022, together with my colleague Andreas Demirci as managing partner of PMPG Legal Advice. In addition to supporting contentious court proceedings, I advise in particular on corporate restructuring and succession as well as criminal tax law. Thanks to my dual qualification as a solicitor and tax advisor, we always have the relevant aspects for our clients in view.
Why did you become a tax advisor and solicitor?
It has always been important to me to look beyond my own horizons. After completing my dual degree in finance, I quickly realised that I wanted to study law as well. Initially alongside my work as a tax officer in a tax assessment office in the heart of Cologne, and later on a full-time basis, I successfully passed both state law exams and finally began working as a solicitor specialising in tax law. Passing the tax advisor exam in 2021 was then the obvious next step.
What is the best thing about PMPG?
PMPG combines various disciplines, which enables us to provide our clients with comprehensive advice – here, tax and law go hand in hand.
Our teams are motivated and committed, which not only benefits our clients, but also makes the collegial atmosphere among colleagues simply unique.
What is important to you in making clients feel well looked after at PMPG?
Understanding, competence and reliability – these are the three pillars on which I base my client service. I want clients to feel that we listen, explain clearly and manage transparently. When a client knows where they stand with us and makes good decisions together with us, they feel they are in good hands.
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
In my free time, you’ll usually find me on my (e-)bike in the Eifel region or as an enthusiastic member of the “guild of hobby brewers” at the brewing kettle.
What can i do for you?
If you have any questions or concerns in the areas of general civil law, company law or tax law, you can rely on my expert advice.
It’s that simple.
