Daniel Esser

How long have you been at PMPG and what is your main role?

I’ve worked at PMPG ever since switching from financial management in June 2017 – initially employed as a lawyer, I have been a managing partner of PMPG-Rechtsberatung together with my fellow lawyer Andreas Demirci since July 2022. In addition to assisting in contentious court proceedings, I also provide advice in the field of corporate restructuring and succession, as well as in criminal tax law. Thanks to my double qualification as a lawyer and tax consultant, we always have the aspects relevant to our clients in view.

What do you value most about the PMPG team?

The PMPG team is motivated and committed, which not only benefits our clients, but ultimately also makes the interaction between colleagues something unique.

What do you think makes PMPG special?

At PMPG, various disciplines are combined with each other, which enables us to provide holistic advice to our clients – taxes and the law go hand in hand here.

On a more personal note. What do you do in your free time?

In my leisure time, I can usually be found on my (e-)bike in the Eifel or, as an enthusiastic member of the “Guild of Hobby Brewers”, beside my brewing kettle.

Why did you become a lawyer and a tax consultant?

It has always been important for me to think outside the box After my dual studies to become a Diplom-Finanzwirt (graduate in fiscal affairs), it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to do a law degree. Initially alongside my work as a tax officer at a tax assessment office in the heart of Cologne, and later on a “full time” basis, I was able to successfully pass the two state law examinations and finally take up work as a lawyer specialising in tax law. Taking the tax consultancy examination in 2021 was the obvious next step.

Describe PMPG in a few short sentences.
